Mercy Hospital of Buffalo

565 Abbott Road, Buffalo, NY 14220

Established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1904, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo is home to the Catholic Health Heart Center and the system’s Comprehensive Stroke Center. The Heart Center provides a full range of cardiac care services, including heart surgery and the latest minimally invasive cardiac procedures. As Catholic Health’s tertiary care center, the 387-bed hospital features the region’s only Joint Commission-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center with a multidisciplinary team of medical specialists and the most advanced technology to diagnose and treat complex stroke cases. A hub for medical care in Southern Erie County, the hospital’s Emergency Center includes 32 private treatment rooms; these include specialized rooms for pediatric care and a rooftop heliport. As one of two Birthing Centers in Catholic Health, Mercy Hospital delivers more than 1,900 babies each year and features a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The hospital also offers a wide array of outpatient, primary care, and rehabilitation services at convenient locations throughout the area, including its freestanding Mercy Ambulatory Care Center (MACC) in Orchard Park, which houses an Emergency Department and a two-bed hospital.

The MACC offers patients in the Southtowns 24/7 emergency care services, and because it is classified as a hospital, can receive ambulances and patients with severe and/or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. In addition to emergency medicine, the MACC provides a range of specialty care such as physical therapy, cardiac rehab, wound care, and diagnostic (imaging and lab) testing services.
